Maya Helicopter

Below is my first attempt at utilizing the Maya Software. Through much exhausting time, I have finally found how to manipulate the program and create the class required helicopter. Although it has reflections of a shark, it is a proud and orange helicopter!

3D Lecture with Elona

The Dudersdadt Center lecture was a compelling experience, enlightening all students on the incredible resources available to the community. Programs involved with 3D projects were the main concentration, demonstrating how a visualized work can become a truly tangible object. There is an unbelievable inspiration in this school, providing every possible tool necessary to complete any type of imagination, and I am eager to explore and further understand my artistic ability.

Phoebe Gloeckner

Phoebe Gloeckner provided an unbelievably riveting lecture, providing much surprise and awe to the artistic audience. Produced in Mexico, Gloeckner's work is an immersive exploration of the self, discovering the relation between the culture and the area in which she finds her most creative inspiration. Although much of her work was extremely outrageous and perhaps a bit extreme for my creative taste, I truly appreciated her ability to be bold, daring, and inventive.

Sabrina Raaf

Through the integration of technology and science, Sabrina Raaf finds beauty in her collaborate efforts. With a combination of a the African culture and the artistic concentrations of our societal expectations, Raaf is able to illuminate the Western World through her brilliant utilization of technology. Painting a gallery with a robotic artist over time demonstrates her regard to time and its influence on our own lives. I was extremely impressed with her collaborative ability, crossing multiple disciplines and exposing the true thoughts of the world; that we must learn to coexist among all disparate types of cultures and art.

Digital Animation Lecture

i find it fascinating that the digital nation has been completely propelled from it's normally technologically debunked state, to a future of brilliant innovation. i am impressed by animation's recent digital feats, enabling students to easily understand, appreciate, and employ techniques to create their own unique animation. 

i am eager to explore maya and find novel ways to express myself through a digital outlet.

i hope my collage successfully portrays one of my most integral beliefs—transcending past downfall and improving upon one's self. with each mistake follows the fortunate ability of rebirth, and i hope that i can always find benefit and optimism in my many endeavors.

parodying the work of famed artist mc escher, my collage is a reflection of the past, with the integration of pastoral foundation and ephemeral characteristics. i hope to make the entire hand enveloped in nature, with vines and branches contorting the popular piece to demonstrate nature's everlasting consumption.

Joseph Cornell's Collages

joseph cornell is an unbelievable collage artist. american artist and sculptor, cornell exemplifies the ability to collaborate different objects from disparate environments and understandings to form a beautiful expression. i know cornell does not employ digital components, but i believe he is an enormous influence on all collage artists to follow. i am eager to create my collage with similar receptiveness and creativeness of cornell's inspiration. 

The Digital Nation

i have always grown up in the digital world. since i was young, videogames and computers have been an overwhelming component to my life. however, i have never considered the negative ramifications of the digital era i have for too long enjoyed and overlooked. 

when writing an essay, facebook becomes one of my most helpful tools. not only do i connect with friends and ask questions pertaining to the assignment, but i also find manners to distract myself and relax before the next paragraph. to think i was in fact lowering my ability to complete the simple task of writing an essay with digital components would seem preposterous and outlandish! however, after watching digital nation, i find it quite believable and understandable that through a distorted and broken focus, i lose much of the significant concentration necessary to create a beautiful essay or complete an assignment. with my newfound knowledge, i am extremely determined to consider work separate to other digital notions.  

Patrick Watson: A Takeaway Show

canadian singer-songwriter patrick watson brings an undoubtably beautiful rendition of his song man under the sea with the wonderful videographers of la blogotheque.

watson's unique utilization of disparate modes of audible expression reflect the boldness of his musical endeavors. the collaboration of various instruments is brilliantly simple yet profoundly effective.

one of the most emotionally driven live songs i have ever been fortunate to view and listen. the rain, the music, the passion—unbelievably provoking sentiments that can only compel a smile.

the goo goo dolls will always remain a legendary band, from their transformative punk rock music to their medleys overflowing with love. when john rzeznik wondered why so many girls asked him on a date after this song, i think this video is the epitome of an answer.

ABSOLUTE PASSION: LUCIAN FREUD

lucian freud, with his unbelievably unique palette and passion for portraits, will be remembered as one of the greatest modern painters of our time.

his strikingly confident brush strokes demonstrate how art must not always be approached to perfection, rather exposed with it's most real, honest existence.

we reside in a society too focused on the complexities of refinement and the ability to revise any statement. lucian freud, however, proves that we are a people of stark realizations and poignant personalities. uncover the truth in your face and reveal to others—more importantly yourself—the person that is disguised behind your mask. 

BON IVER ON JIMMY FALLON

off of his new, self-titled album, bon iver sweeps into jimmy fallon live and captivates the entire audience—including a never before speechless comedic host. the riveting lyrics and unbelievably enthralling performance that justin vernon and his multiple man band create is truly inspiring.

the emotions felt through a bon iver concert are inexplicably exceptional, and i urge everyone to experience this rare beauty in music.
